Oh the joy!

I can't contain my joy today... life is so good! Take a peek at a few of the things I'm thankful for today...

1. My photography is just sky rocketing! Old friends are booking me, strangers are visiting my website, friends of friends are calling me up... I'm even getting advertising action on facebook! I have two or three jobs per week booked for the next two months! And it might be more if I didn't have a full time job, the Beach to Bay Marathon to train for, and some weekend trips planned. So thank you to every single one of you who helped me get started and will continue to help get the word out. I LOVE THIS!

2. Praise God! Stellan is home from the hospital! The 6 month old MckMiracle has brought thousands of people together in prayer, and his strength amazes me!

3. My back hurts, my skin looks awful, and I am bloated and irritable... that's right, Aunt Flo is coming! What's that you say? It's a weird thing to be celebrating?! Well... it means I can get back in the baby making business! Our miracle is coming!

4. My nephew Benjamin turned 8 this week. (That's right, Harper isn't the only cutie in my fam'.) Benjamin and Julia are my nephew & niece in Round Rock. Benjammin' is 8 going on 30... he is wicked smart, athletic, funny, and just such a cool kid. Happy Birthday Goober!

5. Tomorrow is the start of May... and that means our Third Wedding Anniversary is approaching. And we might not have the money for nice gifts or a get-a-way, and we don't yet have the baby we want so badly... but I am SO happy with my marriage. Being Skip's wife is truly a blessing and I'm thankful for every single day with my ALH. Oh, and we sort of have a tradition of going to Hooter's on our anniversary... so I think it is safe to say that he is a happy husband!

LIFE IS GOOD! GOD IS GOOD!

And I Quote...

“The brick walls are not there to keep us out;
the brick walls are there to give us a chance to
show how badly we want something.” ~Randy Pausch

This absolutely applies to us wanting a baby so much that we will ejaculate in a cup and put our feet in cold, sterile stirups jump through hoops!

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD."As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." ~Isaiah 55:8-9

Obviously this is from the Bible. But my “friend” MckMama included it on her post this morning, wise woman that she is. Her sweet son Stellan is still in the hospital battling heart problems. Please say a prayer for this MckMiracle and his amazing family.

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty,
charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures
that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
~Jawaharlal Nehru

I'm ready for our fishing adventure at the coast this weekend! whoop whoop!

“Well, at least you know you can get pregnant.
Well, at least you can still go out drinking.
Well, at least you can still sleep late on weekends.”
~annoying ass people who might get whalloped
upside the head if they repeat these or any
similar words in my vicinity.

Yes, I can get pregnant every 7 months or so, but that doesn’t mean diddly if I can’t actually grow the baby. And I’d give up drinking for the rest of my life for a healthy child… beer is good, but baby kisses are way better. And sure, I love to sleep in… but I’d be happy to be a walking zombie like the rest of the mothers out there. Hell, I’m even praying for morning sickness… I’d be tickled to death to be miserably sick right now.

~Chelsea Lietz

Yes, two more weeks until I can make love to my husband like a normal, married, monogamous couple. And the bit about some annoying rubber not blocking the already wonky sperm that we need to make a baby? Well that’s just a lovely bonus.

Have Your Cake & Eat It Too!

A quick request of my loyal readers (all 3 of you)... PRETTY PLEASE go to my photography blog and become blog followers. They are oh-so-cleverly called "Shutterbugs," but it isn't cute and clever until someone actually wants to be one!

Saturday was my niece Harper's first Birthday. I love this child!

Thursday's Thoughts

Have I mentioned that I hate paying taxes and medical bills?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Real Estate market may be running on empty, but my photography business is taking off! I got a lot of compliments on my website, and even more importantly... I already got booked for some jobs! God is good!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love words. I collect them like beautiful bits of sea glass on the beach. I love the way they taste on my tongue, or when they are so powerful that they explode with a small pop inside your mouth. Clavicle, Rendezvous, Chivalry, Whisper, Chaos, Extrapolate, Persnickity, Zealous... there are millions more. They can be complex, concise, commonplace… but always beautiful.

For the last 12 years I have kept a quote book, a gift from my friend Rosalie. In this prized possession of mine, I meticulously copy down quotes that move me or strike me as poetic truth. I gather these quotes from books, teachers, speakers, poetry. Often I find myself poring over them, absorbing their magic.

Seeing as words and quotes are so important to me, I thought I might make an effort to share some every now and then…

"And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth."
-Raymond Carver, "Late Fragment"

"To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, and to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!"
-Emerson

"And as you sit on the hillside or lie prone under the trees of the forest, or sprawl wet-legged on the shingly beach of a mountain stream, the great door, that does not look like a door, opens."
-Stephen Graham, "The Gentle Art of Tramping"

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most of you know that I have volunteered with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America for 3 years. My wonderful little sister Elisa is an important part of my life and she fills my heart with laughter.

Well, Elisa needs your prayers. Someone called CPS and claimed that Elisa was getting abused. They interviewed her mother that is on probation, her ailing grandmother who is her guardian, Elisa herself, and they will interview me. I am not concerned for Elisa’s safety. I know she is not getting physically abused, but that doesn’t make this situation any less serious. She could be pulled away from her home, her school, her friends, and from me. Please say a quick prayer for Christ to protect this child.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you read my Chrysalis post, then you know that Easter Sunday was my first due date. A day I should have held a child in my arms instead of searching for answers and meaning like a child searching for eggs. Indeed, I was sad. But my Faith sustained me. After all, both the empty tomb and my empty womb were part of God’s plan. And I trust Him implicitly.

So Much Love to Give...

My Adorable Loving Husband thinks that everytime I get the baby blues or miscarry, we get another pet.
He could be right...

I can't help it if my heart is overflowing with love to give! But these baby ducks and adorable bunny were for my Easter/Spring Portrait Special. I had 15 kids to the ranch in 3 days and took over 2000 photos! I am very pleased with the results, see a few of the pics on my photography blog.

The baby ducks will live on our tank when they are big enough. The baby bunny is going to a very good home. My friend Bobbie has a 2 year old daughter and is giving birth to twins boys any minute now... and this brave woman wants a bunny to care for, too!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

During our fertility testing, a blood test showed that I was not immune to Rubella (German Measles). Obviously, I got the MMR vaccine as a baby, but must have gotten a dead Rubella virus. 91% of the population is immune, but I guess I'm still lucky I never ended up like this...

Anyway, getting rubella while pregnant can be fatal to the fetus. (this is not what happened, I have never had rubella) So, I rushed downtown to get vaccinated. However, I can NOT get pregnant for a full month or the vaccine would likely make me miscarry. {sigh} Not even being able to TRY for 4 weeks makes me feel extremely useless.

So our next step is to go through a bit more testing in a week or two. (read: spend more money we don't have) The doctor thinks there is absolutely nothing wrong with us and that there is no reason our next pregnancy shouldn't be a healthy one... but we will test to make sure.

I hope that in 4 weeks our RE will approve IUI with Clomid right away. If not, we will try naturally with clomid for awhile. I have NO DOUBT that we will have a baby in 2010... but I'm getting tired of waiting! And I honestly don't think I can afford to feed any more animals...
