Showered With Love!

Last weekend my sweet friends Shyla and Brittany threw me a baby shower for my New Braunfels and Seguin girlfriends. It was amazing! I loved having all of my old friends, new babies, an amazing cake, and I'll admit it... lots of presents for Kherington!

Loving on 5 week old Kylar.

Some of my girls and kiddos.

Jen and I.

Getting excited about gifts. My friends are so generous!

One of the BEAUTIFUL quilts that Darlene York made for Kherington.

No baby shower is complete without a diaper cake.

My amazing hostesses and some of Kherington's favorite "Aunts!"

Kisses for Kherington.

Loved this beautiful cake!
And it tasted even better than it looked.
I should know... I had 4 pieces.

THANKS GIRLS, I LOVE YOU!

I have not, however, forgotten Veteran's Day.

Being married to a Veteran, I can never forget the sacrifices they made/make for the rest of us. We need to thank them profusely for our freedom. I'm most thankful for the freedom to worship God as I please. Our troops deserve our unconditional support and prayers.

You might not know that when Skip and I met, he was in the Army Reserves. Merely two months after we met, when we'd just admitted that we were in love, Skip was activated on Valentine's Day 2002. (right when things were getting heated... I meant the war, but I suppose it applies to our relationship, too!)

Photobucket

His unit, the 217th Transportation Company, was deployed to Kuwait and then Iraq. For over a year we built our relationship on phone calls, emails, video chats, and letters. I wrote him every day... even if it was a stupid joke. And every day I wore a yellow ribbon on my shirt, a prayer always on my heart.

Photobucket

Our relationship was young... but we knew we were meant to be together. We perservered... and were overjoyed at our reunion.

With my soldier safely home, our relationship continued to grow and deepen. Four years after we met, we got married. (in the midst of another deployment scare) Seven years after we met, Skip was honorably discharged, and I rejoiced to have him out of harm's way. Now approaching eight years since we met, I am incredibly proud of what he did for his country and who he has become.

So today, let us give thanks and offer prayers for our brave Veterans, Service Men and Women, and even our First Responders.

And having had a taste of it myself, let's not forget the strong families left behind. They too, sacrifice for the good of the country.

Three Simple Truths

1. It is hard to shave what you cannot see.

2. The money I'm saving on tampons is being spent on toilet paper.

3. My belly button hasn't been this clean in 27 years.

3D/4D

Yesterday Skip and I treated our parents to a special preview of Miss Kherington. We got a 3D/4D ultrasound and Sissy, Tai-Pan, Pops, and DeDe relaxed on plush sofas while images of their granddaughter floated on a wall-sized big screen!

We were all enamored. We could see lush lips, a cute nose, long eyelashes, and a double chin. She was sucking on her cord, yawning, swallowing, and flicking her tongue in and out. She loves her hands in her face, but we still got some really great shots.

"Yo world, see you in about 76 days!"
(okay, maybe she was just yawning, but it looks like a shout-out to me)

Look at those lips! Got them from her Daddy, for sure.

An early Veteran's Day salute for her Daddy.

A side view of our little cowgirl.

Her eye is open in this one! It was amazing!

A beautiful face, if I do say so myself!

"No more photos, please! I'm sleepy!"

The 4D video shows real time movement and our entire exam. It is too large to upload, but we will cherish it forever!
We can't wait to meet this beautiful, beautiful miracle we'll call Kherington Grace!

My Sperm Donor

I need a moment to brag about my husband.

Photobucket

He isn’t perfect, of course.

Lord knows he is messy, stubborn, loves to party, and sometimes does stupid man-things.

But thankfully, he is so much more than a sperm donor.

Photobucket

He actually cares about every tiny detail I share with him about this pregnancy. No eye rolls, “uh-huhs,” or glazed eyes at the television… he shares every minute bit of excitement with me, even if he can’t feel it or experience it himself.

He goes to OB appointments happily.

He worries about me and my wellbeing.

He does his part when I am in nesting/cleaning/decorating mode, and looks the other way when I let dishes get crusty in the sink.

Photobucket

He brought me pancakes for breakfast because I’d been craving some the day before.

He let me choose our daughter’s name and then backed me 100%.

He gets a twinkle in his eye when he tells people we are expecting a daughter, even though he is also anxious for a son.

Photobucket

He put together nursery furniture that came in 257 parts.

He is never annoyed when I have to pause the show for a bathroom break… every five minutes.

He does the heavy lifting and gives me the comfy spot on the couch.

Photobucket

He is going to childbirth class with me starting this week.

He rubs my aching back. (only for 30 seconds, but we’ll work on that!)

He thinks my curves are beautiful and sexy… and he tells me so.

Photobucket

And the other day I was exhausted and lounging on the couch... The house wasn’t exactly clean, dinner wasn’t even started, and Skip was starting his own load of laundry.

I said “Man, you really need a wife that cooks, and cleans, and does laundry.”

And he said “I’ve got a wife that is carrying my baby, and that’s about as good as it gets.”

Awwwwwww. Sweet, right?

Photobucket

And he’ll make an excellent father. Even if he does sleep like a ton of bricks and have trouble getting out of bed in the morning.

I’m a lucky woman, and Kherington will be a very lucky little girl!

Everyone knows Daddies are something extra special to a girl... no matter her age.
